She’s making us read a chapter a day which is alot (she wants to go up to chapter 21 by the time of the AP exam because we hadn’t covered that last semester)…this is supposed to be a AP USH ‘prep’ class…so I already took AP US History…I only took this class because I thought it would be a no-homework kind of class. Now I’m really upset that she’s making us do this (not only read the chapter of course, but we have an essay to write every day for each chapter…with a surprise prompt)…and we have to take notes.
I wish I could tell her to use something like AMSCO instead…because with this book I feel like I’m just wasting my time. It’s overwhelmingly detailed and all over the place. I don’t like it and I don’t think it’ll help me with the exam. I rather read Princeton Review.
Should I get out of this class and just read a prep book on my own?
Choose the best option:
A. Don’t read the book and try to get by with a prep book and reliance on the stupidity of classmates for lenient curves.
B. Drop the class.
C. Suck it up and do the work.
(Actually all three are reasonable depending on you and your circumstances, but I think you know which one is probably the answer that would be expected if this was a real test.)
My APUSH class is using that book too. The notes take from 1 to 2 hours to complete. It’s ridiculous. I slid by with a 89 for this semester just by copying my friend’s notes and studying. Then again, I’m a history person and its different for everyone so just work harder through the class. Honestly,I learned a lot from that book and the class in general. After a few chapters, you’ll get used to it. You won’t like it, but you’ll get used to it.
