My test center is closed!!

I live in Maine, and it was just announced that my test center is closed tomorrow due to the weather. It is rescheduled for 4/2, which, since we are on the semester system, is right when I have midterms. I'm so bummed. Trust me, it's not that I want to take the SAT, but I want to get it over with!!

Also, what should I do now to prep? I've done the eight tests in the CB book and the ones the college board offers on line. I'm afraid that if I don't keep preparing at least a bit I'll grow rusty in three weeks. Any suggestions? Do the SAT god like xiggi have any suggestions? Thanks and good luck to all of you who get to take it tomorrow.

I know it might sound lame, but I'd suggest re-taking the 8 real tests. You might be amazed how many repeated questions types and patterns you start to pick out...and that can only help.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's exactly what I'll do, and since I did the first couple of tests in the book quite a while ago, they might seem at least a little fresh to me.

I really should have mentioned you along with xiggi when I mentioned SAT gods. You have made so many incredibly helpful and insightful posts re the SATs on cc, thanks so much!

Do you think that the makeup will be much harder, or graded on a harsher curve, than the original one? Some people on this forum seem to think that the March 12 test is everyone's one chance for a more lenient SAT.

p.s. I still can't believe they made the decision to close the night before the test. I wish they would at least have waited until tomorrow to see how much snow we really have before deciding to close the center!

I honestly don't have a clue what the curve will be on this test versus the make-up test. But if I had to guess, I would say this first new SAT won't be any easier or harder than any future test. They are curved to a normal distribution, standard deviation curve, after all.

Sorry about the cancellation. That completely sucks. But I understand why they would do it the night before...not many people would check in the morning, and then there would be a lot more people out on the unsafe roads...

I'd do anything for SATs in April.

so this morning, i got up extra early, reviewed everything and checked collegeboard.com before i left and my school in CT wasn't listed, get to my high school and what do i see?no sat, postponed till april. man this sucks, i'm going to have to get new review books and put off driver's ed even more now.

I feel your pain, dwerbowy, this totally sucks. I'm sure that you guys out there taking the test this morning are not having a ton of fun, but having your test postponed really messes big time with your schedule.

the only question i have is are they going to make up a completely new version to igve to the few thousand students whose tests were postponed? cuz in the past, they sometimes just recycled an older version for the postponed people but seeing as how this is a brand new test, they can't do that. I really hope the curve doesn't get ridiculously harsher for us either.

Yeah dwerbowy, the cancellations were only on the TV stations for some reason. That kind of bothered me. Luckily I checked the TV too though. :)

o by the way do you guys know when we will get our scores then? cuz the scores for this SAT today doesn't get relased till april 11th so would it also take another month for ours to get graded? it would make sense but i remember the people who took the postponed SATs in Feburary got their scores back in like less than week as compared to the usual 2 weeks wait.
