Quite frankly...i'm worried. I was rejected by UNC coming out of high school last year. Not deferred...but rejected. My high school stats were along the lines of:
SAT: 1210
Unweighted GPA: 3.6/4.0
AP's: Stats, Computer Science
Honors: English I, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math AT(advanced track), Calculus

I'm guessing my application was fairly strong but not nearly along the lines of competitive for a school like UNC. So I attended NC State for a year. I'm applying as a transfer student for fall 2006 admission.

My college stats:
GPA: 4.08/4.33 (an extra credit is given for A+'s although the maximum that shows up on the transcript is 4.0)

Fall 2005 Classes:
Academic Writing and Research
Inorganic Chemistry
Calculus I
Introduction to Psychology

2 Introductory Engineering Classes

17 hours

Spring 2006 Classes:
Organic Chemistry
Physics for Engineers I
Economics
Calculus II

Weight Lifting

16 hours

I also was recently accepted into NC State's University Scholars program.
I live in NC too.

Am I dreaming or do I have a realistic chance?

the in-state aspect will help you tremendously. i'm not entirely sure if they still favor in-state applicants through transfer admissions as they do for post high school admissions but i'd definitely say that with your stats and location, you have an excellent shot. best of luck to you

Worked concession stands at UNC football games for church
volunteered at american red cross throughout senior year
boy scouts (held various leadership positions throughout my 10 or so years in boy scouts....organizing events and such)
recreational soccer and tennis throughout high school
amnesty international club
biomedical engineering club
mu alpha theta society
national honors society
intramural ping-pong
university scholars

my ec's aren't that great and that was probably what kept me out last time. However with my involvement in the biomedical engineering club, university scholars and intramural sports this semester I think I have shown that I am fairly involved.

just thought i'd add that my mom is an alumni of UNC-Chapel Hill too. Not sure how that factors in.

being a resident helps MAJORLY for transfer students...are u kidding.

a student with the exact same scores and stats transferring as a resident to uncch has an overwhelmingly greater chance than an out of state student

But if you are graduating with a AA degree from a NC comm. college or just applying to UNC transferring from a NC comm. college, you have a relative advantage over out-of-state candidates. NC comm. college transfer applicants are priority.
