In my opnion my GPA is very low..
I wanted to know what you guys are thinking about my GPA.

my unweighted GPA is 3.2/4
I am currently in IB program. I am taking alot of AP and IB classes, so my weighted GPA goes up by alot. around 4.0 -4.2

I am kinda regretting that I went to IB program school because I am pretty sure that if I went to non-IB school I could have better GPA. (and less stress so much work to do...)

I am worrying about my GPA becuase all the competitive colleges i'm looking at have average GPA of 3.8-4.0. (emory, NYU, cornell, Uwash, georgiatech, JHU)

Will my IB program status make up for my low GPA or it doesn't really matter?

Well, if you had posted this earlier, i would have agreed with you that a 4.2 is a bit low, but then again. 2 other kids from my school applied early to cornell and both got in with about a 4.2; I had a 4.78 and got deferred- still a bit bitter; so i wouldn't worry that much if you make you essays really good- mine kinda sucked

I am kind of in the same boat as you...my uw GPA is lower than most due to IB but hopefully colleges will look at the courseload and take it into consideration. Still, 3.2 really isn't low considering the program you are in. Can't really talk on the other schools except for NYU. NYU even said on their website that the most important factor in admissions is academic performance based on the strength of the courseload you have taken. IB is rigorous so it must count for something.

I always like these posts now, as I was in the same boat. When I applied to Tufts ED I, my GPA was 3.47UW/4.02 weighted, and I got in last month, granted, similar to you, I will graduate with 10 AP classes, so I think you're in fine shape if you maintain and try to raise your gpa.
