i thought i did pretty okay on the essay (atleast double-digits) but instead i got an 8</p>

<p>80 and 9 on essay –> 790.
it was like a miracle or something… because i swore that essay would completely kill my final score, but it only brought it down by 10 points.</p>

<p>The first time I took the SAT, i got a 790 W (74MC, 12E), then got a 790 again the second time I took it (obviously wasn’t worrying about bringing up writing) with an 80MC 9 essay.</p>
<p>It gave me a bit of a chuckle.
What was even weirder is that I got a 760 on M and 740 on CR, which is the opposite of where I would say my talents lie.</p>
<p>jkpark: 2310 is not worth retaking. Those 40 points will not be a deciding factor anywhere.</p>
<p>I have a peculiar issue. I have missed 1 max on my practice SAT Writing sections. But, I seem to get caught up on one and throw me off during the “real deal”. I got a 580 on writing this time with a 9 essay. This is really frustrating. Especially because I didn’t get 750+ in M either. Does anyone recommend a Writing only book to work on?</p>
