MyBerkeleyApp Igetc please help!

Hi!

I'm trying to fill out the update Berkeley want but I'm confused.
I'm completing my IGETC before the summer so I'm not certified yet but I guess you should fill that in anyway? The confusion, however, is that I don't know what classes I should chose from. I have several classes that would go under the same category in the IGETC, but you can only list as many as the IGETC demands. Should I just chose whatever classes I feel like listing there that are listed in the IGETC?

My other question is under major requirements. We should list classes we have or will take that fulfill the requirements. I took psychology 1 which is a requirement but I'm taking sociology 1 too in the spring which satisfy the same requirement. It is space for 3 classes there, should I list both of them?

So thankful if someone can help me out because I'm so confused and afraid I'll mess it up. Thank you!

Ok I realized now that my post sounds really confusing.

What I mean is that in the update for Berkeley, I’m supposed to fill out all my classes that fulfill IGETC. For example, I should fill out the 3 “Arts & Humanities” classes I’m taking or have finished to fulfill that part of the IGETC. But I have probably 5 classes that actually fulfill that requirement, so I don’t know if it matters which 3 I pick? Should I write in additional comments or something that I have more classes that fulfill that requirement?

Hope this makes more sense. Thank you!

Hey @Manda001

Before I give my two cents I’d like to advise you to call the number listed at the bottom the screen when you are filling out the additional forms on the myBerkeleyApp because you will get the (beyond a shadow of a doubt) correct answer from the Cal admissions representatives who are there waiting to answer these questions. I know that they were able to help me when I called, just be prepared to be put on hold for a bit.

I ran into the same issue as you, having completed more than the three required social science courses for IGETC, so I filled my app out so they could see the diversity in the courses I took. I’ve also heard its a good idea to put the courses that you have the highest grades for that complete that requirement since it makes you, the applicant, look better. I, personally, would advise you to put the completed courses down and not planned courses because it shows Cal that you are prepared and have finished said requirements before the Spring semester. I hope all of my rambling made sense but please bare in mind I am in the current process of transferring, just like you. If you can, please call the Berkeley reps so they can give you a more decisive answer.

That being said, hope all goes well with your apps and your last semester at college (:

You fill in the classes in this order: Highest grade > Honors courses > Completed > In progress > Planned
