Mystery Tutor Disappoints.

I was looking forward to his 1 on 1 service, but he's charging $200 per week... srsly...***? I thought he was all about giving everybody an equal chance?

Doesn't mean that his SAT stuff isn't invaluable, but still disappointed.

discuss.

"9. How Does Payment Work ? You'll pay $197 every month ..."

Mystery Tutor is a sham.

the forum or the actual tutoring

If he's a tutor by profession, he needs to make a living somehow.

If you wish to look at it the other way, he offers a more useful stuff for free than almost any other test prep company/agency.

Do you by any chance already know your weaknesses? If you do, I don't think you need a tutor to help you work them out.

If you insist. I believed it brought up my SAT score. But if he's your only prep source, yeah, you're in trouble.

If he's already paid $500 an hour, he doesn't need to make $200/week off of poor students, right?

I'm not saying that it's not a good source, but he really made it sound like his new service would be free. I, for one, am very disappointed.

haha... check out the new video :P

@Bigb14 - you sound so bitter, vengeful and gleeful at the same time.
I have not checked his videos or website, so I don't have an opinion about his professional level.
What I do know that if he is in the tutoring business, he needs to make money off of it, right? I don't know whether he has promised some of his services for free, but he sure can't provide them all that way.
$200 a week... Sounds like a lot of money. Compare to what? What is Kaplan or PR tutoring rate? What about tutors' rates in your town?

I don't know much about Mystery Tutor, but I saw a few of his free videos and it seemed like he knew what he was talking about...is he really just "a sham"

Sylvan charges $1,200 for 32 hours of lame tutoring.
So I think $200 isn't that bad.

Just do practice tests and practice questions from the BB or from the online course. You will get used to the questions sooner or later.

His tutoring is supposed to be for college apps, not just the SAT.

But it doesn't matter. If you looked at the video in the link, he canceled the service because of all the hate mail he was getting.

@gfc:

if I sounded vengeful, bitter, or gleeful, I didn't mean to. The services he offers are great, and very worth your time to check out. I really appreciate what he does.

I was just a bit... disillusioned, if you will, by the announcement that he was charging $200 per week, with one personal session per week. I don't know about you, but in these times, $200 a week is a LOT of money.

What
s wrong with ''the times'' .200$ are a lot of money for tutorinig.I may spend 50$ at a night club in a 5 hours but won
t possibly spend money for tutoring when i can learn on my own.

^In case you didn't notice, we're kind of in the middle of an economic crisis. But I can honestly say that I have never been to a night club and spend $50 in 5 hours. Even if I did, I wouldn't go to a night club 4 times every week.

I spent a lot more than $200 for the SAT, but it was all in books and past QAS.

Sorry, the economic crisis still has not spreaded to Europe.I only heard about this on the news.

lol...look at how he bashes CC...

You can most definitely get a 2400 on the SAT by using Mystery Tutor as your only prep source. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. I am living proof of this.

I find it awful how people are saying all sorts of bad things about Mystery Tutor after all he's done for us. Not many smart, well-paid SAT tutors out there would decide to give up all this golden advice for free only to have everyone turn against him. He needs money too, he definitely deserves it.
