^ HA!
Good one.

You guys have me freaked out… I can’t even access URSA.

^

Are you a wearer of Acuvue contacts? :P

So if I can’t view my fin aid tracking since I never did fafsa, is being able to access housing a good indicator?

So has everybody else that’s not messed with the summer stuff been getting the login error page on MyUCLA too? Or am I one of the only ones?

I’m sorry can you guys even explain what

“mess with summer stuff” means? I’m confused because i never “messed with any summer stuff”

I’ve only been skimming through the pages of this thread, so I’m not completely sure, but I think they classified themselves as “summer students” when they made their ucla login account or something. I could be totally wrong though lol

@ sld122 I didn’t mess w/ summer and I see it too.

@Cleokins Ok that’s good to know. I was getting kinda nervous haha

According to past years threads, how good of an indicator is it to be able to access housing?

@UCKitty lots of people have used ursa to “sign up” (and not register) for summer so they can access myucla and see if the major indicator changes from summer to their major.

hmmm, im not sure how or why they are doing that then…

I think having your major appear in myucla (once you get summer access) has been a positive indicator in past years. They’re just freaking out and don’t want to wait anymore! LOL

@UCkittychen,
i want to check on my housing app too, where did you go to check it?
on my financial aid summary, it says i’m a “Commuter”… would i still be able to check that even if i didnt apply for any housing at ucla?

http://f.cl.ly/items/3g2B1V3h3c3P1C1s1m1R/housing.jpg

okay, apparently there are some things I need to clear up.

“messing with summer stuff” means that, in URSA, you clicked the “enrollment menu” in the left column and accessed the “summer enrollment menu” for 2012. it doesn’t require that you sign up for anything, enroll in any classes – nothing; all it means is that you clicked on the enrollment menu. that alone will give you access to myUCLA. we didn’t register as summer students or do anything differently in the account creation process.

for the past 4 years, the top three positive indicators have been as follows, in ascending order for the best-supported and confirmed theory:

1) financial aid awards summary appears in URSA, with a DOLLAR amount expressing your financial need
2) your major appearing in the white bar underneath your name in myUCLA
3) ability to access the housing application without receiving the “unsure of enrollment status” error message

many of us have researched the validity of these claims and have scores of supporting threads and information. I, myself, have thoroughly scoured every thread on the subject for the past 4 years, and can say that the above theories have worked 99.9% of the time

what about me not seeing my major in the white box though, it was there before does it matter?

1 and 3 applies to me though…

@kitty, didn’t you see your major at one point? it went summer -> major -> blank, right? if so, that’s a good sign. reference the thread I sent you earlier, and you’ll see that people who saw that on their myUCLA were accepted

ohhh thanks much!

@kitty, of course of course, anytime :))))

TO CLARIFY for some posters on the last page:

When you FIRST sign into myUCLA, you will see a BLANK white bar underneath your name at the top. YES, this white bar will seem to “disappear” when you navigate within the site: this is normal. After 30 minutes or so, it will change to “summer session student” if you set everything up properly.

myUCLA is updated every morning at 3AM, so if your white bar is going to change from “summer session student” to your major, it won’t do so until 3 O’CLOCK THE FOLLOWING MORNING. that all being said, if it does NOT change, that is NOT a bad sign.

major in myUCLA = good sign
summer session status = neutral sign; students who had this indication last year were either rejected OR their information wasn’t updated until the very last minute before decisions were released
