MyUCLA web site

@stevey, yeah, our information is updated on a rolling basis. there have been applicants in the past who couldn’t access their housing app until the very last second, so we’ll see!

and yeah, I definitely wouldn’t send any applications for anything through at this point. but yeah, leesh, that would be pretty awesome, haha. talk about a head start, eh?

The person who took 30 units: Are they quarter units? Even with petitioning, no person at my cc can take that many semester units (it’s in the rules).

I think they said they are going to more than one CC

Is UCLA admitting decisions at 12:00AM?

Semester units. I go to two different CC districts so I didn’t have to petition. If I had to petition for that many units it wouldn’t go through lol.

@lawlking, no, they’re being released in the evening. most people are saying it’ll be around 5:00 PM PST, and that is about the same time decisions have been released in past years

My sister can’t see fin aid or housing. 3.94 GPA bio major missing Calc 2. Could she have honestly gotten rejected over just missing Calc 2? She has had no W’s or retakes and is a 2 year transfer.

@justine you said your status on myucla was still summer session student, right? Did you mess with the summer session and get access to myucla today or days before?

@bear, there are many variables at work. there are no “BAD” indicators, only positive ones. we can’t confuse this to mean that a lack of good indicators = rejection.

for one, there could be an issue with her financial aid. she could have made a mistake on her end, or a mistake could have been made on UCLA’s end.

for another, the system could have yet to update her information, which would explain the lack of financial aid.

another thing to consider is that GPA doesn’t have as much of a determining factor as people think. I don’t know her exact situation, but people with 4.0 GPAs have been rejected from UCLA for a whole number of things, ranging from failing to notice that a course wasn’t transferable to simply not being the kind of applicant admissions was looking for. that’s all.

it’s too early to speculate about your sister’s particular case. once we get the decisions tomorrow, she’ll be able to call and ask UCLA specifically (well, on Monday, actually.) UCLA has been good about that in the past: if you’re rejected and you call to ask why, they’ll typically be able to provide a sufficient reason

@stevey, yeah, my status is still summer session. I gained access yesterday, along with about 10 other people who, as of the 3AM update this morning, are mostly able to see their majors. so, of all the people I know who accessed myUCLA for the first time yesterday, I’m one of the few who didn’t update at 3AM

Do you think it’s bad that I filled out the housing application and made my payment and stuff? Before SIRing?

@justine ah bummer! I hope you get in, justine!

@asph, I definitely would not have recommended doing that, if only because we have no idea from past years if that will cause any trouble for you. but, what’s done is done. what the worst that can happen? not much . . .

@stevey, thanks! we’ll see. I have the feeling I’ll survive either way ;)

@justine, did you apply to other schools?

@stevey, yeah, I did. the only UCs to which I applied were UCLA and Cal, however

Anyone able to actually access their ucla email account? I click on webmail and I enter in my ucla password and it always says invalid id or password. Are we supposed to create a new password, somewhere? I clicked on the help link and it seems like you just use the same one you use for your log-in. I know I can just wait until tomorrow but i’m curious/impatient haha

@LAladyy, no one can access their email account right now. that’s normal! :)

Oh okay, dang. I really wanted to start using it! This wait is killinggg me. If only the decisions were coming out in an hour…sigh…that would be the best. Clearly patience is not my strong suit.

@bear, yes your sister will most likely get rejected. I believe biology is an impacted major and ucla is extremely strict about pre-req completion. I was rejected last year with a 4.0 gpa because I was missing calculus 2.

@LA, nor is it mine. why do you think I’m here? ;)

@justine: I applied to both UCLA and UCB as well. Which one is your top choice?
