The actual admissions page is Up!!! I’m in I’m in I’m in I’m in I’m in

I"m in mother f?cers

It’s OFFICIALLLLL! OMG I’m so shocked!

I was a C student in highschool(maybe even sub C), than got kicked out and sent to continuation school. I graduated high school and went to ccc and dropped out after 2 years with a 1.4 gpa. Than was a drug addict for 4 years. Than cleaned up and went back to ccc in 09 and now i’m going to UCLA!?! What a ****ing trip!

So how do we find out what we need to turn in? Where do I check?

Guys, everyone please go here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1327563-2012-ucla-transfer-decisions-only-trick-thread.html and fill out the three little questions for next year’s students :)

@ justinetruant: That’s a great idea for next years transfers! You are the most active in this thread, with all the information too. I really hope you get in! =]

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread, you’ve kept me marginally sane for the last week (also kept me up until 3:06 every night)!

Guys I’ve a question, I just found out I’ve been admitted to UCLA (hooray!).

I want to look at my financial aid information but the website won’t show it to me unless I submit my SIR. Isn’t there a way to access my financial aid info without without actually doint that? Thanks guys.

Good question KarmaGo. And how do we find out what transcripts we need to send? There should be a page somewhere

Thanks everyone for all of the research and support you provided, this was truly an experience that we all shared together.
I still can’t believe this is really happening, I’m in!
The indicators were right!
:)

@karma
You just need to log in to myUcla, under financial aid there’s a link that takes you to MyFAO!

I’m just glad I got in.
But… Wow. I can afford UCLA, according to my ePAL, I’ll only need to get $1750 more to complete my on-campus package.
Too bad I’m considering living off-campus. Lol

idizzle thats why transfers are so much better than freshman - seriously

we have experienced more, we are more AWARE and are more well rounded as a student, we know the seriousness of what we are doing…

@UCkitty: You said it man! All freshmen have to show for are grades and that’s it. Did you decide where you wana go yet? Still set on Irvine?

idizzle what the flippingness is up with the whole financial aid and stuff for UCLA, i just don’t get it.

5500 a year for pell grant is basically all i get outside of my tuition paid for.

how the heck am i suppose to pay this expensive housing around UCLA?

i have the loan thing but i only get one loan for 5500, another loan for 1500, and another for 750, thats awesome if you live in areas where rent is only 300/400 a month!

^^ Same here. It’s enough to cover tuition and just some extra change. I have 8,241 left over after tuition is paid. Than I can take loans IF I must.

I’ve been looking at apts already, they are expensive but not too bad. But they aren’t 2br-800sqft-for-$900-in-Davis good.lol. I’ll be sharing with my gf so a place for like 1400, 700 a piece is not terrible. And its like right next to UCLA and 2 miles from the Apple store at 3rd St(if I decide to work there). So it looks kind of convenient.

That 8000 will probably go to a few months rent until I can get situated with a job.

Are you doing work study?

edit Actually there’s no point in doing work study if you’re not planning to live on campus right?

wait a second.

Gift Aid
Federal Pell Grant $5,550
Scholarship Recognition Award + $14,496

Fees & Health Insurance $14,790
Books and Supplies + $1,521
Living Expenses + $13,485

Total UCLA Cost = $29,796

Meeting Net Cost

Total Student’s Share = $9,750

Federal Work Study $2,000
Direct Subsidized Loan + $5,500
Direct Unsubsidized Loan + $1,500
Federal Perkins Loan + $750

how do you get that 8k figure? I STILL don’t get why i don’t have BLUE AND GOLD, my mom makes 0 and my scholarship doesn’t even cover my fees and health insurance!

UCKitty
you do have blue and gold. where do you think that 14k came from? that IS blue and gold. blue and gold in not the name of the award itself, it is the name of the Program that insures that you can pay for school. do you understand now? did you think that the scholarship money came from somewhere else?

also, i agree that the “cost of admission” at UCLA is estimated a bit too low. and we should be able to borrow more money, which we could if the estimate was a little higher.

but you seem so ungrateful for the money they are GIVING you. maybe you should just mull it over a bit. most kids don’t get the 14k you are getting and have to borrow that money and pay it back. BLUE and GOLD is giving you that money as a GIFT. reflect on that for a while. seriously. we are so lucky and that is a newer program.

but why am i having to pay 294 out of my pell grant money? I thought blue and gold covers that whole thing?

Fees & Health Insurance $14,790
Scholarship Recognition Award + $14,496

I am going to call the financial aid department on monday

also is it possible i can convert some of my loans into work study? Or is 2k the max that I will be allowed?

basically i need that cal grant and I’m goinna make something happen.

also have 4.5k saved

@ UCkitty: This is what mine looks like.

Gift Aid
Federal Pell Grant $5,550
Scholarship Recognition Award $4,557
Cal Grant $12,924

And the rest are loans and work study and whatever.
