NACES

Greetings everyone!
I am a student in the U.S. who wants to work in Criminal Justice when I’m older. I live in Minnesota, where there is reciprocity with some colleges in Manitoba, so I could save thousands of dollars if I went there. Many federal law enforcement organizations state you must have your degree evaluated by a NACES organization before you can get many of these jobs. So I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them and if a degree (my plan is to double major in political science and criminal justice) from a Canadian school in these topics-or others, just out of curiosity-would be deemed equivalent to a degree earned in the United States?

I generally recommend http://www.wes.org/ for evaluation of international transcripts. I do not know of any college or university that does not accept their evaluations. In my observation, their evaluations are also accepted by most employers who require that.

To know whether or not an international degree is likely to be equivalent to a US degree, you really do need to read the details of the individual courses required for the major. If you dig around in the university’s website, you might be able to find the individual syllabi for each course or a detailed course description.
