^Thanks for the good news csdad; I feel a bit better now. Yeah, my remaraks were too ambiguous to begin with (oviously strangers on a wbesite can’t give me a def answer :P)!

I’ll check out the camps, and since JHU, Caltech, and MIT are very academic teams, maybe I’ll stack up well there. I just have to keep working…keep my eyes on the prize…

WOOOH, a few hours ago, I fiercely grabbed my 10 ft. rim (but lost the ball in midst of dunking ) and hung on for a few seconds! I was shocked because I had just eaten my fill (I’m Greek, if you remember ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’s’ allusions to my type of eating :P) at an all-you-can-eat buffet, and I still had enough hops to vault myself up!

I’m glad I finished the day with a GOOD shooting sessiosn because I couldn’t hit anything this morning from outside; always satisfying to end well. My touch was so silky soft, hate to lose that by gaining weight, but it may be necessary…

Thanks to csdad, BigG, and EMM1 for answering a total stranger’s tough questions about recruitng; I reeeaaaaalllly appreciate it guys! :)

Will not taking the SAT when calling D3 coaches look bad? I mean, I’ve checked out a bunch of recruiting forms on websites and they all want SAT scores. I’m not taking the SAT until October–is this a biggie or no deal? Thanks in advance! :)

What types of leagues for college club teams exist, especially at Div 1 schools? Are there competitive and “serious” leagues for club bball? Reason I ask is that if Big Dreamer wants to attend a school that he can’t/doesn’t want to play bball on the varsity team, is there a “legit” club program that he might investigate, which will challenge him competitively? Lacrosse has NCLL and the MCLA college club team programs at many, many universities. The teams practice, travel, have coaches, pay fees , playoffs, workouts…the whole package.

Wiggle, you are right about many colleges having active clubs for different sports. Some of them can get expensive. I have to confess that one of the best things for me since participating in a college athletic program as opposed to club or even back in high school on high school teams is not having to pay for anything, or having to do fund raisers for the team such as selling junk (candles, cookie dough, magazines, etc.), washing cars, selling ads, working concession-stand and all sorts of other things, including digging into my own pocket or my parents. It is nice having the college pickup the whole tab for a change!

Dumb question: Are “club teams” like redshirted players mainly, or how do you try out to play for them? Are they open workouts to get onto the teams, or a minor league syystem to prep players for varsity?

Some DI schools have junior varsities, but I believe that JV players rarely if ever end up on the varsity. Most varsity teams have a very small numbers of walk-ons who sometimes earn scholarships by their senior years as a reward for their hard work in practice. Some lower level DI schools also have recruited walk-ons, who come either a) with the expectation that they will get a scholarship in their sophomore year or b) compete with other recruited walk-ons for such scholarships.

I don’t really mind if I can’t make the varsity, but do these JV players actually get to play in games vs. other JV teams in their conference. Or are they simply there to praactive against the varsity players?

I mean I would looooove to be recruited, but it may not be meant to happen… :P
