So you are over two hours from Colby, b/c just to note, the general advice is that if it's over 2 hours from your house then distance starts to become negligible, after 2 hours, I think you'll start using the train or plane, in Colby's case, you'll need a cab to the airport, Dickinson...you have the train...Oberlin...you have the metro to Clevland's airport.

I just really want you to think about distance in terms of hours not miles, do you plan on going home for thanksgiving? Not if you're at Colby or Oberlin, that's a given, you'll be on campus or at someone elses house. Think about the schools, don't zone out Oberlin just yet.

Also, have you checked up on Haverford?

Creative, the thing is, my dad has a single engine private plane that he (and I) fly. (ooh, should I put my pilot's license on my resume?? I never thought of that) anyway, it would be a really big nuisance to fly anywher that would be about a 3 hour flight, because in his small plane, that's annoying to do in one day. Colby is about a 2 hr flight, so yeah, I'd be able to get home for holidays. Oberlin is a 3 hr flight, almost exactly. My parents don't want to use commercial planes, especially since we have the opportunity to use the small plane that we have. That's why Oberlin's off the list. Thanks for the help though. I really appreciate the suggestion, and that you wanted me to consider something that you thought would match my interests.

Haverford was one of the first schools I looked at when I started looking into colleges. I liked what I read about its academics, and it seemed that I would fit in with its students, but I also saw that it was * very * selective, and that the workload is enormous. I'm not sure if I would do well at a school where the only thing I'd be doing was work all the time in order to keep my grades up, let alone that I'd get in.

I think that at this point, I have to visit a lot before I can make more informed decisions about colleges. After I visit I'm sure I'll know more of what I want and what I don't want in a school. So, I can't wait 'till this spring when my sister will have applied and I can start visiting!
