Nanotechnolgy

I want to go into nanotechnolgy. If I had to pick one major for this what would it be? If I double majored what two should I choose?

I was thinking physics engineering and chemical engineering but I wasn't really sure.

have to be Electrical Engineering with Solid State as your concentration and Material Science Engineering. With these two togetha ur set dawg!
Peace

nanotechnology is doing anything on the scale 10^-9m, which means you can major in anything and do it in a nanotech respect. However, if you want to do MEMs or Microsystems Mech E/ECE is your best bet, if you want to specialize in synthesis and analysis (closed, open, chiral, etc nanotubes) then Materials seems like the best idea. If you want to do nano-assemblers, again Mech E is optimal. It really depends on what you want to do

The true home of Nanotech's development is Materials Science, but it also has much applications to ChemE, EE, and even MechE.

Chemistry is good too.

hi,
i am currently working as a s/w engineer but i want to pursue my masters in nanotechnology.i passed my bachelor's in 2004 but i am totally working in s/w on SAP. will that be a hindrance in applying and getting accepted? plus what are the best featured colleges for nanotechnology? how do i go about it?kindly reply.
best regards,
Lara.

Do an Engineering Physics degree if you can. If not, then electrical.

At my University (which is the world leader in nanotech.), we have an engineering physics program that places emphasis on nanotech, and I'm pretty sure that EngPhys is the way to go.

EE (nanoelectronics, nanowires, nanotubes, etc), MechE (MEMS and NEMS), and MatSci are the best for nanotechnology.

I realize this is an older thread, but I just thought I'd post that the University of Waterloo in Canada offers a nanotechnology engineering major to undergraduates.
