Narrative Studies?

I'm interested in USC's Narrative Studies major. It's one of those programs where almost all the courses sound extremely interesting to me, to the point where I am left thinking, as I read the requirements, "Aw, I only have to take one of the courses in that section? But I want to take 5!"

However, I'm concerned about having a degree in Narrative Studies when it comes to career opportunities. My primary career goal as of now is to teach English at the high school level. Would it be viewed the same as a degree in English?

It’s all about your drive and who you know when it comes to career opportunities.

You may wish to talk with the Department of Education where you wish to teach to see what will help you get credentialed so you can be a teacher. They may be familiar with SCA Narrative Studies degrees or may need you to provide additional information about what that consists of, which you can get from the USC website.
