Narrowed Down to 2 Choices: William and Mary or Emory!!! Please Help!

Hello,

Well I took NYU, Brandeis, Notre Dame and some other schools out of the picture... I am now only deciding between Emory and William and Mary! I love both schools sooo much... I visited both and I loved each campus... I got equal financial aid from both. I am not sure about my major yet... might want to do anything starting from biology all the way to english. I want to explore certain subjects my first year. Which school is better academically? Which has the prestige and the reputation? Location does not honestly matter right now as I love the intangibles of both schools. I just want to focus on academics. Emory is a top private and William and Mary is a top public... I only have like one or two more days left to choose so please tell me which is the better choice and why! Thanks!

Please help! I don’t have much more time!

I would suggest Emory is you love them equally. W + M is great but I think Emory’s location, facilities, reputation is superior.

Emory has a very slight edge in both academics and prestige. Go with the one you love more

^ I think Emory has more than a “very slight” academic edge over William and Mary. Emory has some top 10, many top 20 and a large number of top 30 programs… I don’t think William and Mary matches that. Emory’s international reputation trumps W+M’s also. Once again, Emory if you love them equally.

No one can tell you which school is superior, for you. Great weather at both places. W&M has more of a sports scene; Nationally ranked mens/womens soccer, football team made a deep run in playoffs and beat Virginia, hoops beat Wake Forest/Maryland/Richmond and gave UNC all they could handle. Other than that the only real difference is Atlanta ( if you have car/money) vs W’burg/Va Beach (also need car/money) and public vs private. Emory has a rep for very wealthy student body/high influx from Northeast. W&M also has wealthy students but not as many being public school. Broader cross section of society. Schools are of similar quality and student body quality. True answer is where you feel most comfortable. Ignore outside advice and trust your gut. You will be fine wherever you choose.

Good luck. Great problem to have.
