Narrowing It Down - Computer Engineering

S has narrowed down his list to College of New Jersey, Drexel, Manhattan College, Rutgers or Stevens - accepted at all - still waiting on fin aid info from Stevens so can't fully compare on cost yet. Intended major is Computer Engineering. Any insights on one of these over the others would be appreciated. Thanks...

I'd pick the one he would want to attend if he changes his mind from engineering. A lot of kids with a love of science and computers enter engineering, but they find out that studying it in college isn't quite the same as tinkering with their PC. I'm not predicting this will happen to your son, maybe EECS is the right fit for him. But unless he has done internships or has other significant experience so that he KNOWS this is right, I'd pick a college with an eye to "what-if".

A industry newspaper reports the following

Educators say that such results aren't a surprise, in light of the fact that the majority of engineering undergrads drop out or flunk out of the curriculum within the first two years. With a few notable exceptions, U.S. engineering schools typically have attrition rates hovering between one-half and two-thirds. <a href="http://www.eetimes.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=45200041%5B/url%5D%5B/quote%5D">http://www.eetimes.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=45200041
