They assign you to a residential place after the interview and its assigned based on interests (my friend did molecular biology stuff in North Carolina)

Think long and hard before committing yourself for 8 weeks. I did the commuter component last year and I loved (most of) it, but I definetly knew that I didn't want to put myself through that again this summer.

And, again, half of the participants in my commuter program were white.

Thanks! I haven't been able to sleep at all because I'm so excited and nervous about the interview. I guess I'll call early Monday morning. Do they tell you in the interview where you are assigned?

I got a call thursday night. It was a spontaneous phone interview. It went great. But im not sure if this confirms my acceptance. Im new to this place, this is my first post.

I have no idea what the interview means, but I'm really nervous. I've heard that they use the interview to kind of assign you to the campus that best fits you, but I'm not sure how many they cut. I'm really excited though!!!

do you all think that if I have not received a phone call yet, I am rejected/ not accepted to NASA Sharp, or do you think they will continue phone calls on Monday..
I hope so ....

Thats good! I really thought i had no chance considering how im an overrepresented minority (Indian male). I think my interview went really well. The guy caught me off guard with a 15 minute phone interview, but i was hittin on all cylinders; i think i did well. The guy said another NASA site may call and ask for an in person interview. He mentioned something about teams.. i didnt really understand. Hopefullly it goes well for me and all the other applicants out there. Good luck.

Dr. Core 911, Did you apply for residential or commuter? If you applied for commuter than you probably would have to do an in-person interview also. But that's really good that you got an interview even though you're an overrepresented minority, that must have been tough. Congradulations!

I applied for residential. Do you know if there are in person interviews for that as well? It would seem hard to since people come from everywhere

they asked like what am i looking forward to in the program, challenges in my life that ive had to overcome, what my future college and career plans are, stuff like that

I'm pretty sure they don't do in-person interviews for residential because it would be hard to interview people all over the country. I know that commuter is in-person interviews though.

DrCore911, I had an interview today for residential too. Do you have AIM? Mine's kellysambrook@mac.com/email

lol. okay, i got called today for an interview but i wasn't at home (state comptn) and so my parents are telling me that they're calling tomorrow. i'm so nervous and excited.

i don't think i should get my hopes up though....sigh so anxious

zpmqxonw, what did you fill in for awards and ECs? DId you fill in the slots all the way full or did you only limit the number of awards you filled in, less than how many slots the application had? I filled all of the slots in but it looked really desperate at the end because I was mentioning 4th grade awards, awards only from school, and put "memorized the periodictable" as a talent. It looked really desperate...

Desperation + Asperger's + Chinese male + antisocial behavior mentioned in rec = certain rejection.

But since SIMUW accepted me and so did the UW early entrance program, screw SHARP. tThe UW is my SAVIOR!!!! It got me out of a stupid math program and will not get my out of high school and its summer program will get me to do something o ver summer.
