I applied to NASA's Lewis' Educational and Research Collaborative Internship Program (LERCIP) this year, and I really would like to get in, however, I'm not really sure if I'll be able to get in or not. If I have a slim chance of getting in, I need to line up other plans for the summer (I need to line up other plans for the summer regardless; I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need to accept rejection and move on...) On the site it says that the program is "highly competitive", but does anyone know just how competitive it is?

I’m curious as well. I applied for the college internship and have yet to hear back, although they advise that decisions may not be available until April 15. We’ll see …*I was wait-listed from Caltech and would love to list this on my update form.

For the high school program, semifinalists are supposed to hear back by April 1. If not, they didn’t make it through… I haven’t heard back yet :(

i applied to nasa college lercip for summer 2010 and had heard back at the end of march

How did you hear back? Email, snail mail ??? Was it good news or ??

i received an email of my acceptance into the lercip program. we had to respond to confirm our acceptance by a certain date as well, which has already passed.

but before i had actually received an acceptance, i was contacted by one of the interested mentors already ahead of time

Do you know what kind of qualifications they are looking for? Just wondering how you get in…

i think it sort of all depends on what specifically mentors may be looking for. So if a mentor is working on a certain project that needs certain engineering majors, then im sure those within these majors will be given priority. as well as your enthusiasm for space/nasa.
