I need to get working on those pullups. :P

Tempest fugit. The time is now. :p

Hey y'all
I am a 2007 NASS candidate. I am going to be participating in the 3rd session. Is anyone going to be at both NASS 3rd Session and Navy Football Camp?

Unless women now play football, then no, I'm not going to the Football Camp. :p

I'm in session 3. So pumped up.
I swim 20+ hours a week and do a hundred or so pushups, 30 pullups, and 15 minutes of abs every day for dryland, along with a 2-40 min run, so I think Im ok.

cokeanuts, r u goin to session three?

Im from Nebraska and am going to session two. Im pretty pumped for it. To prepare ive been doing pushups, situps, and pull ups daily and going to wrestling practice. Now that finals are over im running and biking more. Ive been working on the basketball throw a couple times a week but it dosnt seem to be getting any further.

Hey I'm not going to NASS I'm going to I-day, but I thought I'd tell you guys that you should definitely practice that basketball throw a lot if you are a moderately skinny runner like I am. All the football players did awesome on that, and I kinda struggled. And the same applies to those of you who are big and/or buff with running. They do some pretty good-paced runs there, so stay in shape.

"cokeanuts, r u goin to session three?"

Nope. I'm going to session 2! I was going to apply for session 3, but I couldn't because I have a national volleyball tornament. :D

Is anybody else going to the Westpoint Summer Leaders Seminar, Air Force Summer Seminar, or ROTC Honors Camp. Because I am, and I was wandering whether any one is going to all 4 like me. I was accepted to Boy's State, but I declined, because of Westpoint. I hoped that was a good descision on my part. Anyways, NASS Session 1 any one going, post a reply.

Also, any prior people that have gone, is the food good? I am really worried about my weight, thats for sure. All you can eat buffet......its all over.

Plus, am I skrewing my self up, by going to all these camps, physically?

"Plus, am I skrewing my self up, by going to all these camps, physically?"

If you plan on going to the Naval Academy, then going to all those camps isn't nearly as tough as Plebe Summer...

Probably not, and while others here on can clarify re: the non-USNA summer seminars, your USNA CFA does go into your application record. The point being, you want to be as primed as possible for that one, if not the others as well. You can "do over" if you fail to do your best, but ideally you want to git 'er done and keep moving. Plenty more to do in the ensuing months, and as we've come to see, the single most important thing an applicant can do with all other things equal, in a rolling admissions program, is get them reviewing your application ASAP. Why? Lots more spaces in October than in May, as this site and multiple threads will confirm.

So again, you want to do your best on your CFA @ NASS.

I did my CFA with my track coach Thurs. My mile time needs improvement but I was pretty proud of my pull-ups (15). I don't mean to start a competition but has anyone else done their's yet? I'm looking forward to another one at NASS! It was kind of fun.

I did a practice one on Saturday. Had my brother time and everything. I maxed on the push sit and pull ups, but my basketball throw needs improvment along with my shuttle run. My mile was a little slow, I dont want to use it as an excuse but I think if i hadnt worked all day before hand i coulda ran faster, because I have in the past. I plan on doing another practice one before Summer Seminar. Any good tips for the bball throw?

Oh Standby...the Pain Train Is Coming!!

Choo-choo!

hey im goin to session 3. im from charlotte, NC any one else form NC?

I want to do a practice one this Sunday... I have SATs on Saturday, so I think I'll be a bit exhausted then. :p

i'm going to session 3....i'm also from nc, gray. (statesville, just north of charlotte)

Basketball throw- DO NOT THROW IT OVERHAND. Instead, get the ball in a side arm position and twist at the waist. When you are twisted as far back as you can go, untwist EXPLOSIVELY and hurl the ball.
