All right. I'm female and running almost a 6 minute mile, yet I'm struggling to do even one pull up. If I have to resort to a flexed arm hang next week, will my other scores be enough? I max out in situps and I think I max out or almost max out in pushups.

Because of my build I could not complete even one pull up (male). I have an appointment to the class of 2011. When they say they look at the "whole person" they really mean it.

For pullups do them with a partner and go as far as you can up by yourself then when you cant go any further then have your partner hold your feet and help push you up. Do a couple like this and it might help. Or if you have access to a gym use the pull up machine if it has one. THe gym by my house has a machine that offers resistance and assistance to pullups. It helped my mom and sister get better at pull ups. I dont know if this helps exspecially in the short time you have before nass but I hope that made some sense and will help.

I have a major problem with one event of the CFA, Its the basketball throw. The farthest ive thrown it is around 74 feet, but usually I throw it an average of 68 ft. Is this going to really hurt my total on the CFA if I can rund a sub 6 min mile, max on push, pull, and sit ups, and be run a 8.8 sec shuttle ? (not sure exactly how it is scored)

The Navy doesn't expect women to be able to do any pull ups. However, if you can do just one pull up, you will receive more points than you can obtain from the flexed arm hang. The CFA is a pass/fail test. Don't retake the CFA unless instructed to do so by the Admissions Office.

Don't sweat the pullups. Do well on other parts of CFA and physical part of training will take care of itself. My d and her schoolmate could not do one pullup, even so they both received LOA's. D will be joining class of 2011 at USNA and high school classmate will be attending USAFA.
