Is the Candidate Fitness Assessment administered at NASS, and if so can it count as my official CFA?

As far as I know... Yes.

Yepp....CFA is given as NASS and it showed up on my CIS about 3weeks later as my official one. You can always retake it in the fall with your Phys. Ed teacher if you want and resubmit.

ok thanks for letting me know

I wonder how well would you have to score on the flexed-arm hang to make up for the fact that you can't do a pull-up. I know that one pull-up counts far more than the max score on a flexed- arm hang. I've tried to do a pull-up and I do feel as if I will eventually be able to do one, but I don't have enough time. I have to take the CFA next week and i'm looking at the flexed-arm hang as my alternative. Can anyone help me?

I'm a guy but for the girls, I remember the max time on the flexed-arm hand being about a minute. Being a girl, I think that if you can almost do a pull-up you should be able to hold yourself on the bar plenty long.

my current CFA scores are:
Mile: 7:30ish
Push Ups: 52
Sit Ups: 102
Pull Ups: 7
BBall Throw: 68-71ft

I leave for USMA tomorrow morning and NASS on the 17th, do I have anything to worry about as far as passing the CFA and the physical things that we do at NASS? Also if I am passing, is it just bairly or am I pretty decent? Hoping I can just go ahead and get it out of the way now so I can focus on noms when I get back. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your CFA during NASS can/does count and, provided you pass, you don't need to take it again. However, if you're not satisfied with your score and believe you can do better, you're free to retake it on your own later in the year and submit your new score.

I should clarify that when I said you could take the CFA later "on your own," I meant outside of the context of NASS. Obviously, you must have it administered by a physical education instructor, commissioned officer or BGO per USNA instructions.

any insights into my scores posted above? I'm male by the way and depart 4am tomorrow morning

tn48th:
Remember you are competing against all the guys who max out all events. You want to aim higher than the max, so when the test comes you can easily do the max.

Maxing out...
B-Ball Throw: 102
Pull Ups: 18
Shuttle Run: 7.8
Sit Ups: 95
Push-Ups: 75
Mile: 5:20

Your scores...
BBall Throw: 68-71ft (not too bad, but you may want to practice this a few times to find the best form for yourself)
Pull Ups: 7 (train to get this above 10)
Shuttle Run: ?
Sit Ups: 102 (well done, maxed out)
Push Ups: 52 (try to work on these in the morning, at practice, and before bed time--practice!)
Mile: 7:30ish (slow for a guy, try to really train for this--ask the track or cross country coach for help, or even a good runner at your school)

You can track the CFA status on the candidate website. Sons CFA results at NASS1 are already posted on his website.
