National Achievement Scholarship?

I am an African American, and I did not score high on PSAT; so I am not qualified for National Merit Scholarship. But, what about national achievement scholarship? What score do I need to get in?

i think its top 5 percent

http://www.nationalmerit.org/nasp.html

btw what is ur psat score?

and what year are you in high school?
you can only qualify for nmsqt (general merit program for every race/gender) and/or the achievement thingy if ur in ur 3rd high school year

"Semifinalists are the highest-scoring program participants in the states that constitute each region." Does these participants include the white people?

i got a 185, nationally 90th percentile, do I have a chance for national acheivement commended scholar?

national achievement=only blacks
national merit=all races
national hispanic=well, it's kind of obvious

what is the MINIMUM score that is qualified for national achievement?

you won't find out till they announce it in the spring or fall

shoot- i can't wait that long!

I got National Hispanic with a 192, if that helps at all. lol

if he got nat hisp with a 192 you mite be able to do it w 185 because national black avg is lower than hisp avg i believe

I got 191, but my friend is concerned with his score (161). Does he have a chance?

Science, I doubt that your friend with a 161 will be honored thorugh the National Achievement or National Hispanic program, but since the programs don't publish their cut-offs, my guesstimate may be wrong.

If I were you, I would advise my friend to study very hard to get an even higher SAT score than their PSAT would predict. There is plenty of evidence from peoples' posts that studying can raise one's scores, and one doesn't have to enroll in the expensive courses to do effective studying for the SAT. College admissions and many college scholarships are based on SAT scores, so it would be a good use of your friend's time to devote himself to taking actions to get the best SAT score that he is capable of attaining.
