National Achievement Semifinalist

Hi guys!

I'm really disappointed with my PSAT score because it went down 5 points to a 191 this year. I generally like the ACT more and was only going to take the SAT if it seemed like I had a chance at national merit or national achievement. Obviously national merit is out but is there still a chance that i might make national achievement? I live in Lousiana. I've looked for the cutoff over the years but I haven't found anything. Thanks in advance.

mcap. While you are dissappointed with your PSAT scores, congrats nonetheless.

Like you said National Merit may be out for you, based on this link below for LA cutoff on Natl Merit.

However, since there appears to be no published data on Natl Achievement, your best best is to speak with your GC to get some historicals on the score range on students who were selected as NASF in the past. I however, believe that the 191 should definitely not exclude you as a semi finalist. I urge you to review some of the threads here on CC that can also provide some insights.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks learning!
I’ve decided to register for the January SAT. My counselor thinks it’s best to take each test at least once and then decide where to go from there. I’ll worry about national achievement later and if I get I get it and if I don’t I don’t. Thanks for your help.
