I'm currently a junior in my high school, and have taken three APs in the past two years, AP Bio, World, and Chem. I wanted to know if having National AP Scholar on your college apps really matters that much next year? Is it worth the effort? I'm taking three APs this year, Physics, US Hist, and Lang, but to get national scholar I'd have to self-study two courses of which one would have to be something totally different from what my college major will be like Art History, and the other would most likely be Human Geography which doesn't seem so bad. But is it worth putting in the effort for those two self-study APs? Also, can anybody suggest any other APs that are good to self-study or easy.

Well, I’m in your position too. I’m a junior and I’m planning to become National AP Scholar. So far, did three exams: AP Calculus AB, AP World History, and AP Chemistry. This year, the four AP classes/exams I’m taking are AP Statistics, AP US History, AP Physics B, and AP English Language and Composition. Currently, I’m self-studying three: AP Microeconomics, AP European History, and AP Calculus BC.

I do hear that AP Human Geography is easy, but I do not know what study guide is recommended. Studying AP Psychology would also be easy. For that course, just get yourself Barron’s and read it through a few times. Good thing about study guide is that it is more portable and easy to hold than a textbook. So, you can read it anywhere. A friend of mine received a 5 by reading Barron’s. So, you could try both Human Geography and Psychology.

Good luck in your study to become National.

only about 800 juniors in the nation get this award yearly. So it would be a cool award to have. personally, I found APs to be not that bad to handle. I took 6 AP tests last year and got 5’s on all and made it to the Nat AP thingy.

Of course don’t kill yourself getting it if u are gonna take the harder AP’s and get B’;s in them. If you go for it, GO ALL THE WAY

Actually, 13000 people get National AP Scholar.
