Just got mine
AP Stats 5.0
AP Chemistry 5.0
AP US History 4.0

uh morganrichman.... fireflyscout said she DID receive the National AP scholar, no debating necessary lol

what if you get 8 fours total sophomore and junior years and then a 3 as a senior. do they take the award away? lol

Also, does anyone have the number on the people who got National AP Scholar (by junior year, so not the ~9600 total)?

If you removed a score that was like a 3, will the 3 still bring down the "4 average" you need to achicve or will that be wiped away from that also?

Cause that sounds pretty cheap. If i had 8 4s and 1 3 i couldnt get the national AP scholar but i removed the 3 i would because i would go up to a 4 average

^Yeah, good point. So I guess the award isn't permanent...?

This has a breakdown of grade level and awards for each state. just by eyeballing it, it looks like about 7-8 thousand seniors get it so that leaves about 1-2 thousand non seniors who get it each year. I found it earlier in this same thread

Umm stupid question maybe, but subscores dont count right?

I got a 5 on calc BC and a subscore of 5 on AB, but thats only 1 5 counted right?

Yes 10char

does the award do anything useful for seniors? wouldn't they already be in college...

It's less of an "award" and more of a "title."

It is always good if a person wanted to transfer from one college to another to have the "title" on their application, especially if it's after 1 year of college

plus you can just feel good getting a little recognition for all that hard work!

If my quick count is right, in 2007 there were 715 National AP Scholars who earned the award before senior year.

Sweet, that makes me very happy. =]

what is this award title thing anyway? like how do the people get notified and do we receive anything? D: i'm only an AP Scholar with Distinction... not as great as you guys! hahah (: but hopefully by next year!

You get a certificate (suitable for framing) mailed to you sometime in the fall.

Perhaps it could help for scholarships? I am a rising senior with 6 AP's, so I only will get AP Scholar with Distinction. Hopefully the national award will help to getting scholarships when I receive it next year.

I was one 4 away from getting National =/ makes me sad.

What if someone got a 2 on an exam and canceled the score (in September) and all their other scores were 5's? Will they still be considered for AP Scholar awards because the 2 is no longer on their transcript?
