Becoming a National AP scholar is one of my goals by the end of junior year. What exactly happens when you get this award? Do they just send you a letter?

You get a certificate in September stating you’re a National AP Scholar. That’s about it. You can list it as a “national” award on your college apps too.

IMHO, colleges wouldn’t really care.

They can see if you had taken that many ap classes and if you had gotten high enough scores on them. It’s a redundant title.

But it’s the prestige of having one! I plan on getting it next year, but I don’t want to screw anything up. Gonna have to kill it for AP Human Geo.

lol I was in all your shoes last year at this time…

let me just say… DON’T PROCRASTINATE. i’m dying right now trying to cram in 8 aps, 5 self-studies into my brain.

It is rather impressive because there are fewer National AP scholars in a year than 2400 SAT I people. So it definitely shows that you are capable of handling college level courses very well.
But one piece of advice. START STUDYING EARLY!!! and I hope you are taking some AP tests right now as a sophomore.
Last year I took 3 AP tests, and got all 5’s. And this year, I’m taking 7 (including self study for the two Econs), but I don’t think all be getting very good grades (messed up big time on Stats, got really confused on Calc FRQ, and my hand started cramping during APUSH, hahaha. i’m cursed!). You’ll definitely need to self-study, and for self-study courses, i suggest Enviro, Econ, Psych (especially if you’re already taking psych as an elective at school), or Human Geography.

Best of wishes to you. I honestly feel like committing suicide right now. taking 7 AP tests is not fun.

hope i nail these upcoming ap’s so i can get it (as a soph)
if i get any 3’s i will be crushed. 4’s i wil be quite disappointed
