National College Match - 2009-2010

@AmalgamPalladio

I suggest you read thru this thread from the beginning.
Questions and comments pertinent to your queries are addressed.
It may also help you to read through the 2008 QB thread.

I think your SAT scores wil have to stand as is, they were to be taken by June (?) to count for QB Finalist.
(Maybe someone else will correct this, I didn’t pay close attention as I wasn’t personally concerned)
You can, however, take or re-take SAT 2 in Oct. to count.

Also, not to beittle, but it has been discussed that unless circumstances are UNUSUAL, SAT scores shoud be a minimum of 2200 (out of 2400) for the top Ivies. Of course, QB’s ‘holistic’ approach will be a help so plus or minus points MAY still bring surprises.

Your EC’s & awards sound excellent, and whatever you do/did to earn $$ to help your family is a JOB!

As a good writer, make sure that your Essays are strong and in your voice!

Only looking at Yale & Princeton? - WOW! - don’t count out all the other great QB Schools.

Best of luck!

I’ve been getting a lot of emails from quest bridge, and I don’t think I’m eligible for it but I just want to make sure. My dad is doctor who makes 150k+ a year. Am I right that questbridge is just sending me emails by accident?

Ugh minimum of 2200? LOL i am not even close. 2050 over here! I’m hoping the gods come together to help me out XD

@BuddyMcAwesome
<“My dad is doctor who makes 150k+ a year”>

NOT ELIGIBLE for QB

(Wanna trade? :rolleyes:)

I don’t understand why they keep sending me emails and stuff. Is it just because I have a spanish last name maybe?

And its not like I would need QB anyway, (2300 + three 800 SAT2s)

Uhh Questbridge isn’t for dumb kids Buddy, it’s for poor SMART kids. Many of us have those grades too.

what I mean is that its not like a would have no shot at getting in without QB, like some of the kids with around 2000 looking at ivies

@Ju_liaa
WAIT - maybe it is 2000/2400 ? :wink: don’t worry.
I really don’t remember and too lazy to re-read all those posts!
At the beginning of this thread, didn’t we all decide to be AMAZING and show how AMAZING we are? :smiley:
I have a good feeling that you’ll come out on top!

Amalgram, I’d recommend you apply anyway, write the hell of out your essays, and hopefully you’ve registered for the October or November SAT or October ACT. Though the scores can’t count to be considered for QB, they will count for the colleges. So all you can do is take your stuff as it is and give it your best shot.

@GoToCollege: You’re too good a this encouragement thing XD. Haha seriously i need to only think positively until i push that button. After that i’ll freak out all i want!

@ Julia:haha, I finished my essays, GOD, finally! And also, my SAT’s are pretty close to yours, but lower.(but will be higher this fall) I still have hope.

Question to all: can we use a questbridge essay as a supplement essay (for example use a QB essay for a Princeton supplement?)

OH, and with that whole rolling admissions thing on the other page, DOES QB ALLOW ROLLING ADMISSIONS? I got a free application thing from Fordham, and I want to apply but I’m not sure if it’s permitted while I’m applying for QB.

Gahh i got one for Fordham too! I really wanted to do it but it was unclear for me as well

Thanks to all you guys for the help.There is literally no one at my school who can help me with or even has heard of questbridge…@GetToCollege I will be retaking the SAT in October in hopes of getting my math score up. If I do become a finalist I want my scores to be as high as possible for the match round. My circumstances aren’t that unusual but I do have this eye condition known as Amblyopia that makes concentration extremely difficult (terrible headaches, eye pain,pyschological stress etc.) My family is too poor to afford the surgery or any treatment that could help but I have been steadily saving money for the surgery for the past two years. I should be able to have the surgery by Jan 2010(Yay!) Excelling in reading and writing has been worth the struggle but math not so much. I do plan to apply to several other questbridge schools during the RD round but Yale and Princeton are my top choices.

Are you guys going to recycle/semu-recycle any QB essays for the Princeton supplement? Which one?

@AmalgamPalladio -
Oct. SAT 2 Math -You will be good to go for Finalist and Match.
Best of luck w/eye surgery - it’s good that you will be done and better before college? Sounds like a good topic for an essay!

Hey, we’re all in the same boat
I was just re-reading the 2008 thread - Ha, Ha - Same problem getting the teacher recs. in on time

Angst time starts Oct.1 :cool:

I’m re-cycling ANY/ALL QB essays I can for any college app applicable!

Lol same here about the essays. I have enough stress already without having to write more essays! gawrsh

WOW what the heck? Apparently someone from Notre Dame and UPenn are coming to give info sessions at my school tomorrow. I gotta make sure i buy my GC like a car or something when I’m no longer broke on my @ass for being awesome! XD

Not applying to Notre Dame though…maybe this will change my mind. Who knows

Should I be worried? I ask my teacher on the first day of school to write my e recommendation for QuestBridge (9/9). It’s 9/20 and he still hasn’t even registered. I did remind him last week. Any advice would be appreciated.
