National College Match - 2009-2010

They have another scholarship this year too! The Quest for Excellence Award that gives you free laptop computers. Oh good lord…

Oh wait. Nevermind. I think they just updated the website. Sadly, they’re not letting you retake the SAT this year. The last test date they are accepting is June 6, which already passed. Oh god…I’m screwed.

oh gosh are you serious! ugh. Yeah I know the questions are not up yet but I thought someone said they stay pretty consistent. If the SAT ting is true I’m screwed, I haven’t taken my SAT subject tests yet and I know a lot of schools need that for admissions. Where on the site did you find that?

nvm I found it. Your correct.

wait, where did you find that?
How about for ACT then?

No I’m pretty sure that it works like this…

Last SAT you can take:
-CollegeMatch Round: October
-Regular Decision Round: December

I asked QB about this in an email… they responded on July 1st, so this information is not outdated (or so I presume).

Correct me if I’m wrong / if the rules changed.

And our family’s income is mid-$60,000, but it’s only this year that’s like that, and most of the years, it has been significantly lower. Does this lessen my chance?

go under the college math link then process review then selection criteria. Scroll down and you will see eligibility requirements and it’s there

You must take the required standardized tests (the last accepted test date is June 6 for the SAT I or II, and June 13 for the ACT) and send your scores to QuestBridge as well as the colleges you are interested in to qualify for the College Match process. Any testing done after these dates will only be considered in the Regular Decision process.

gotcha. alas, i see the two dates for SAT and ACT. thanks a bunch :)

maybe that’s only to become a finalist?

The information I posted in post #124 was taken from the website that same day, so I’m confused as well. Sorry if I posted any erroneous info.

it said anything after that test date will have to be used for RD.

I emailed Questbridge. They told me that SAT scores in October can be sent directly to the schools you rank for the CollegeMatch process. Those scores will be fully considered for the big decision in early December.

yes! ok I thought so, that wouldn’t make sense if they didn’t. Thank you flyingllama for clearing that up. They seriously need to change that it can be soo misleading.

Yeah, I got the same email. However, are you sure they’ll “fully consider” the October 10th test date? I guess, they’ll consider it for most people but how do you know the college you ranked accepted or declined you before they even received your newest test score?

so doesnt that mean that in deciding their finalist standing, they’ll only consider June testing dates?

ya, if you want to become a finalist, june is the last

I’m sure this question has been answered before, but I’m still rather confused about it:

If I apply to say, Princeton and Yale as my numbers 1 and 2 choices, and Bowdoin as number 3. Lets say all three accept me (I know, ridiculous…). Do I then get to choose since the first two are non-binding? Or do you only get an offer from the first one?

You will only get an offer from one, whichever wants you and is highest on your list. In your scenario, you will only be notified that Princeton has matched you.

Okay, thats really helpful. Now I’m worried…
