National Dean's List?

Wow, I just checked. This is an OOOOLLLLDDDDDDD post.

I received this very same letter my sophomore year of college. I sent in the $100 and did receive my name and picture in the National Dean’s List publication. This is a very prestigious and honorable award and is looked upon in high regard. It also looks nice on an employment resume. I would recommend you do order this book if you have the funding. I have mine in my office and it gives me encouragement to continue my education every time I glance at it.

^^^
Shameless. A planted post

^^^ Isn’t it amazing how every time a single digit poster (usually with only 1 post to their name - Like Mandalynss who posted two spots above this one) comes in and states that the National Dean’s list ISN’T a scam they seem to show an almost uncanny similarity to the posting style of the other single digit posters. (i.e. their use of the bold heading feature).

I believe that it is a pretty shady organization that goes about using deception to try to sell their product. Balfour should just stick to selling really nice school rings and memorabilia and just stay out of the “honors” racket.

Does anybody know whether or not you’re supposed to get a free certificate each time you’re nominated for the National Dean’s List? I have the books but I never got any certificates. If anyone knows, please tell me.

Read their 10K

http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edg4ar/data/1168468/000095013406022133/d4173e10vk.htm#102

Their principle reason for existence is to sell these achievements. Hardly an honor. Read the company background section. It is very telling.

duckfeet> contact them about it directly. [American Achievement Corporation - Overview](http://www.cbi-rings.com/)

Sorry, I can’t seem to get the 10K link to work. Check out post #21 on page 2 of this thread for a direct link.

Sorry about this. My past posting should have read National Dean’s List not National Honor Society although they sound like the same deal.

the NDL is just a brag thing, if you buy the book set it on your coffee table, when any mention of IQ or how well some body did in college open it up to your name and point out that you made the National Deans List in “year”.

Now the list is generated with your name on it wheither you buy the book or not. The list is generated from the list of the top 5% of teh GPA for that year from every college, university, that is a four year curriculum.

that means normally you GPA must be above 3.5 to qualify. I made it twice in my Junior and Senior years. with 3.7 third year and 3.6 my last year. Its simalar to the military, police and firemen brag wall where they display all their medals, commedation and photos. Set the book on a shelve below you Diplomas, certification and othere education honors. Heck, I even hange my MENSA membership there lol.

But its just something to brag about. But if you look closely at job application you will find a place for all educational honor to be place such as honor society that where you put National Dean List 1981 and 1982 SHSU

Please check out the parent company’s 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Page 2 of this thread (post #21). They are in the business of selling college/high school rings, academic regalia, yearbooks and other academic ‘honors’.

Once again, the link failed to work. Please refer to post #21 on Page 2 of this thread. It will give you all the information you need to know about this business.
