wait... why is who`s who among american hs students a fraud?

because its just a moneymaking scam and no college really looks at it like its anything worthwhile.

ohhh... does anyone know if math honors society is a fraud then?

mariopuzo- It's not exactly a fraud, but NHR is not an award you can put on an app.

kchen- Is it a society at your school (like Mu Alpha Theta)? If so, it's probably fine. If it's something that came in the mail, be cautious.

actually, national math honors society is a nationwide thing. the thing is, you have to pay $20 to be a part of this. and you just get some sort of certificate that certifies that this student is in it. that`s all. would that be considered a fraud?

Sounds like one to me. Anything you get in the mail, that you pay money for a certificate/book, is basically a fraud.

national honor roll and who's who are NOT frauds. you don't ahve to pay anything to be recognized. on the other hand, national society of high school students IS a scam... you have to pay to be "recognized"
