<p>i got something in the mail that said that i was eligible to be inducted into the national honor roll if i filled out a form with biographical information. the letter listed benefits such as sending a letter to all the colleges i apply to and putting me into a pool for a $25000 scholarship, but something doesn't seem right. is this a scam or should i take it seriously?</p>

<p>Colleges look at your transcript and decide for themselves how strong you are.</p>
<p>They do not consult the "National Honor Roll".</p>
<p>If you are asking will they do exactly what they say -- send letters, put you in a book you can buy (that is what they are trying to selll you) and give away a scholarship, the answer is yes. If you are asking whether it means an honor of any importance to an admission's officer at a college, the answer is no.</p>
