<p>Is the National Honor Society a big thing to put on apps. Im the persident of the NHS in my school, would this be something major to put on my app that would look really good?</p>
<p>For general members, NHS becomes expected on an app and must be explained if it is not present. Basically, if your school didn't pick you as one of the top portion of your class, why should they? As for being a president, it shows a bit more leadership and time management but its not MAJOR. It adds meaning to putting NHs on the app at least.</p>
<p>well since you're the president, that should look pretty good on apps. otherwise, it's not that big of a deal since lots of people make it.</p>
<p>i agree, but it depends on how many people get accepted into the club. If the club has a low acceptance rate than it's pretty good.</p>
<p>How would colleges know the acceptance rate?</p>
<p>the college gets a profile for each school, i think. I might be wrong but check upon it with the colllege and your guidance counselor.</p>
<p>it depends on the level of your involvement. i am also the president at my school, and it takes more than 10 hours a week. we run extensive tutoring programs and fund raising activities. for me, its MAJOR.</p>
<p>Just curious, what are the requirements in you school to get admitted into NHS.</p>
<p>Isn't the level of involvement required to be in NHS at each high school a factor too though? For example, I know at my school that if you are accepted into NHS you have to do a lot of community service work both inside the school and outside, every member tutors underclasssmen and about 1/2 the people in NHS end up organizing/chairing a big fundraiser or community service event. At my friend's school, however, all they do is bring some canned food or school supplies for underprivileged kids and maybe 5 people in the organization do anything more than that. If you don't want to use up an essay talking about your involvement in NHS, how do colleges know the requirements of your school's NHS?</p>
<p>If a college has a good track record with your school, there's generally an admissions rep assigned to it. They know what's involved.</p>
<p>Also, some colleges have scholarships earmarked specifically for NHS members. It doesn't hurt to take advantage of it.</p>
<p>Dude i spend 10-15 hours a week on NHS stuff.. don't tell me it doesn't take time..</p>
