Is anyone in these honors societies (Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma)? How is it? Should I join it? Good benefits, fun, etc...?

Joined it my freshman year and the only thing I’ve gotten out of it is spam. Got about 100 messages from incompetent members who didn’t know how to remove themselves from the mailing list.

Anyways, it’s pretty pointless to join if you don’t plan to get involved (I don’t even put it on my resume). But if you do plan to get involved and make it an active student organization, then definitely look into it.

other than becoming involved, what other benefits are there? like is it actually anything important? or just ANOTHER organization/club thing? and what is the reality of the whole ‘get scholarships’ thing?

thanks. wondering if i should do it too.

Another benefit i can think of is making a bunch of friends from different majors and disciplines. But since it’s so open to so many different disciplines, it’s not really a selective and prestigious honor society (in my opinion). I’m not sure how plausible it is to get a scholarship through ALD/PES.

I’m currently active in one honor society and a member in another, and I get a lot of benefits from both organizations (in terms of career opportunities, exclusive company tours, networking with really successful students in my major, etc.)
