National Latin Exam Awards?

Hi, so I take Latin 2 Honors currently, which marks my 2nd year of Latin. Although I’m most likely going to be majoring in STEM fields, I still take the National Latin Exam every year, and you get awards according to the score you made. This year I did better and I even got a medal, and apparently since this is a national level exam you can write it on your college app, but will it seem a little weird or pose negatively towards me since technically I’m not going to major in Latin or any other languages, or will it show that I had talents in other subjects?

I would show it. I think it shows effort and achievement. It doesn’t mean you have to be a Classics major.

My son is going into theater tech. He listed his medals on his app. For a STEM student, Latin is a good thing to know because many words are derived from Latin. Congratulations on the awards. Do you do the National Mythology exam as well?

I actually had no idea that the National Mythology exam was a thing, but that sounds really interesting (I am a great greek myth nerd)! Unfortunately I don’t think our school hosts that exam…

Oh, it is. I enjoyed studying with my kids when they took it. Each year, they had different alternative myths. One year it was Norse, another African based, etc. It was fascinating to learn new things, especially for fun.
