What do you think the NEW PSAT for class of 2017 will be for the state of TEXAS?
I think it will drop a few points from last year. Maybe because Texas is not a common core state, I’m not hearing about abnormally high scores in Texas schools. 215-217 would be my guess.
@itsgettingreal17 …I agree with you. I think Texas will be way different than some of the other states that have been teaching common core.
@SLparent …Who else is from Texas on the other thread?
speedy2019, dallaspiano. idk who else.
I know there are a lot of statics out there. We need if get some good information on here about Texas cutoffs.
Testmasters says 217…
I have seen several say 212 to 214. What about the clusters?
Let’s talk about Texas…
Also, @mphill1tx said something like:
So maybe that implies a 213? 214? cutoff? Just guessing the level that would let in 10-12 of those students.
I am not very good with statics however I can tell you that I have spoken to a college recruiter now and she said sho would be shocked if a 221 in Texas did not make the cutoff.
That being said I think the cutoff will go down in Texas. I am not saying our students are lesser than it is a fact that Texas GC don’t understand NM information. Mine included! As has been mentioned on the other thread Texas does NOT teach common core.
What was last years SI PERCENITLE for Texas (I know the cutoff was 220)?

@Dallaspiano…what do you think about this? You are from that area.
this was posted on the other thread…
@Tgirlfriend - Yes, lot of asians moved to Dallas & Houston over last decade and lot of their kids are in high school now Look @ the Coppell high school stats. I lived in TX before and I still have family there. I also heard lot of SAT coaching centers!
Texas here, DS scored a 1460/216. Wishing he got one more verbal question correct. He’s heard of one TS higher and a few others in his range. Last year the HS had 3 SF, year before 1. They sometimes host a prep class, sometimes not. This past summer they announced one at the last minute. DS was able to attend a couple of days. Not sure it helped much. Hoping for a 216 or lower
@Tgirlfriend, report on Asian
At my HS, for the last four years, all Valedictorians an all Salutatorians are Indians (from India). It may be the same this year. But my brother got the highest score in SAT last year and nobody beat me yet in 2015 PSAT and SAT (Junior year). There are one 35 ACT and other 2340 SAT (senior year, all Indians)
@Tgirlfriend, may I use your chart. Thank in advance

@dallaspiano I was thinking the same thing, Texas usually follows a high year with a slightly lower year. That being said if the test hadn’t changed I would guess a 218 this year. Another thing that gives me hope is that Texas is not a common core state. Here’s to hoping!
@SammieB,
The above chart is based on old SI. Is your 218 based on old SI or 218 in new SI?
@dallaspiano I was saying if it was still the old test I would have expected a 218 to go along with the normal drops. So for the new test I do not think a 216 or even 215 would be too low.
