I got an email from the college counseling department at my school. I'd imagine that most if not all students will be informed by Monday.

We heard a rumor the CA cutoff went down this year... I think it was 216 or 217 last year. But haven't found anyone who has been notified to confirm.
My son is at a 231...not an issue...but has lots of friends on the fence...and would like to hear.

I'm from Florida, and I got a 215. What agony waiting until Monday knowing that I am either in by 1 point or out by 1 point.

CA was 217 last year, but where did you hear the rumor?

Does anyone know this year's cutoff for New Mexico?

Counselor told kids on Friday that the Alabama cut off is 212 (again).

anyone hear anything about maryland?

has anyone in south carolina heard anything lower than 214?
D has a 211.

This is maybe a dumb question, but I'm just getting into this whole process. My D got a 234 as a sophomore - does that mean she automatically qualifies whatever happens this fall (although I expect she'll do well) or do they only consider junior year scores?

Only Junior scores count. But a 234 is sooooo high above most state cutoffs that I'd expect she'd have to fall asleep not to get it. Just make sure she reviews a little before the test and she's good to go.

This shows a flaw in using the PSAT. My D only missed three questions to get a 234, so the low number of questions is a worry. Random mental vapor lock could change that 3 to a 6 or 7. I imagine that would still qualify in Oregon but this test is a fairly coarse-grained evaluation.

Some kids do much better in 10th grade than in 11th grade because it does not count in 10th. Some get nervous in 11th and either fail to qualify or have lower scores. Best advice: have her go over old tests to prepare . . . and be positive.

Does anyone for Illinios have any updates at all???

I agree that reviewing and going over old tests is a good idea.

I experienced only a 1 point PSAT score increase between sophomore and junior year, even though people said that a year makes you "smarter". ;) I'm fine with my score, but reviewing more definitely would have helped.

Does anyone know a site that has more info on 2007 cutoff scores
than this one?

I have searched the web many times and this seems to be the most current and complete source of information regarding PSAT past/present state scores. If you should find another source, please pass on the link. Thank you.

P.S. Still holding my breath and waiting for a confirmation on the Texas cut off of 217!

Do you think that they would call you to inform you that you were a semifinalist, because my school year has not begun yet.

HELPERMOM:

I agree MOLLYMAE, this is the best place to get PSAT cutoff info. I think "rlvj" he is doing a excellent job. thank you "rlvj"

BTW, I think CA is CA, north CA or south CA has same cutoff.

Sorry, I mean north Carolina or south Carolina.

Not much new to report tonight except the rumor about CA, which remember, is just a rumor. There ought to be a lot more reports tomorrow afternoon/tomorrow night.
