The Michigan cutoff is either 211 or 212 since I had several friends in my grade who scored 210 on the 2006 PSAT/NMSQT and didn't achieve Semifinalist status.

Do you know of anyone who got a 212 and received semifinalist status? I know someone on this board said they did but a claim in their post turned out to be false so I don't know if they're correct. Thanks for the response!

hellousdad: Not sure, but for commuting students it is state of school not state of home, so it's got to be the same for boarders...

Same caveat as last night: These data are only as good as the posts, which can be ambiguous and even contradictory.

Also, I'm still on the college road w/ D so please check that data/post collation for your states look right -- I'm rushing it and have to use very slow phone line.

In recent years MA population has been dwindling as people move to other states. From the rlvj's summary of scores I deduce that some of the MA population moved to Kansas. MA +2 and KS -2.

hey rlvj; i believe the cutoff for north carolina is 215 (i scored higher, but the lowest from the group from my high school was 215 from waht i know) (a change of -1 from last year)

Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of the actual PA cutoff for NMSQT semifinalist? (It seems to change by the day.) Any info greatly appreciated!

Does anyone have any information on Oregon? I scored 215.

PA is 217 .

I'm from Maryland and got a 222. Unfortunately I have not been notified and believe that some people at my school have. Don't know if this helps

Can confirm that 219 makes it in CA

anyone know about NJ? will 224 make it?

I asked the GC if anyone has been notified at my school. He said results will be released on the 13th. They have the results but won't release them.

yeah, i'm from nj and my friend with a 224 made it. however, my friend with 222 didn't, so it's either 223 or 224

221 in CT?!? I got a 220 :(.

I called NMS and they said results will not be made public until Wednesday September 13, until then, the only way to verify cutoffs would be through word of those who have already been notified.

By the way, anyone for Illinois? Please?

Is there any other place to look for information on the cutoffs? No one here knows anything about my state (Oregon). My school is such a disorganized mess I can't count on them to figure anything out. Any suggestions??

Until scores are anounced on the 13th, the only ways to find out if you've made are through other students in your school, this forum, or through your school.

Illinois, anyone?
I held my breath as my school's anouncements were being read, I was waiting for my name. Only me and two other students qualified in April and I'm the only one with a sufficient score to qualify for SF. So I'm just waiting for any kind of notification through my school, or through this forum. Crosses fingers

Good luck to all.

Home stretch -- 5 days until press release. Same caveats as always:
1) SF isn't that important for applications/admissions; schools prefer SATs since they're more recent, more detailed, and more reliable.
2) SF(/F) can help with money, but only sometimes. Many Finalists don't get money, so don't focus on the Commended/SF cliff too much.
3) Reports here are only word-of-mouth, which is far from an ideal state.

As for the questions about why not better data on certain states and/or better data elsewhere on the Internet, we've got what we've got. If there's a better source for individual state data or an overall table, please post it. I'm monitoring several other boards (like PrincetonReview.com's online discussions), but no place seems to have anywhere near what we've built here, thanks to you all!
