A WashU rep informed me that for NMFs WashU matches the National Merit Corporation award ($2500) for each following year; thus, they pay you $2500 in soph, junior, and senior years, for a total of $7500, in addition to the $2500 initial award. Is this how it works; I always thought you could accept EITHER the Corporation award OR the school-sponsored award, but not both. Anybody have info?

I really don't think they're mutually exclusive. And the corporation awards are usually greater than $2500, and renewable.

The official WashU "school-sponsored" award is $2000 per year so WashU's continuation of the NMC $2500 award is just something nice stacked on top of the corporation award.

for schools like WashU when is the last date to change college of choice?

For ALL schools, your change has to be received by the NMSC BEFORE April 25th. So, you could fax it to them on April 24th, if you like to live dangerously. D is a NMF - she sent in her first choice school so it would go out with the March 2 list to schools. As of now, she does not know if she has been accepted by WashU, so it didn't make any sense to list them. If she is accepted by WashU and if she decides to go there, she will change her first choice school before April 25th.

So as long as we list WashU as our 1st choice, will they guarantee the 2500/yr scholarship?

No, only a bit over half the 16,000 some finalists will get the NMSC $2500 scholarship

But, if you're a finalist who doesn't receive the $2500 award from NM, WashU will still give you $2000 a year for listing them as your first choice.
