National Merit Finalist Notification

still waiting in RI-

Likewise…still waiting in Maine

i think a large part of it depends on how quickly mail gets opened and handled at your school…i have a feeling most schools have received the certificates…they have just yet to deliver us the results

Just heard in California. D made it, yay!

Thanks mom2collegekids - since my son hasn’t had school, I called the NM number that you posted. The woman told me they like the schools to tell the kids first but since they were being mailed to the students today she would tell me. My son did make it to the finalist.

^^^

:)

Awesome! Congrats!

Made it! So relieved!

Hadn’t heard anything from my daughter’s school, so I finally gave up and called her counselor today. Turns out they got the letter yesterday, but hadn’t “had time” to tell her. I guess it’s not that big a deal to them, but it sure is to us!

So, she had already decided to go to Univ. of Oklahoma - which means she’ll have a great scholarship (pretty much everything paid except for housing).

Congrats to everyone! My sympathies to those still waiting - hope you hear soon.

Got it as well! Thanks a lot for posting that number. For anyone else who is still waiting, call NM, they’ll release the results over the phone.

I found out today that am a National Merit Finalist!
PSAT: 217
State: NC

Congrats to everyone who’s finding out now! :)

Also, congrats to those who are accepting nice scholarships! :)

mom2collegekids: I am going to wait until Monday to call NM. My daughter’s principal is my boss and for some reason I don’t think this is a big deal for him, but I could be wrong. Or, he may be waiting to tell both of the kids when he is able (a lot has been going on this week) and I do wonder if the certificate story is his way of messing with me. We get along well but he can have a different sense of humor sometimes. I assume the NM letter sent to our home will arrive by Friday, if not earlier. Also,if there is a date principals were asked to wait for prior to announcing, he is definitely one to follow the rules to the letter. Like all of the other anxious parents, even though he said she has been named a finalist, I want to see an official letter or paper.

proud_mom…our school has not notified parents or students yet.
You can call and verify with the NMSC. Since today, when they already mailed letters, they can offer and verify information.

Son got it!!!

Just called at Nat’l Merit Corp 847-866-5100 and they were very nice and gave me the great news. Said the certs are in the mail today!!

Happy in CA!!!

I went ahead and called National Merit and verified that my daughter is a finalist. (Too anxious for my own good.) They said certificates may be held up in the mail due to the storms throughout the country. I am so happy because ~26,000 of her Auburn scholarship is dependent on National Merit.

Proud_mom…your name said it all! Congratulations!

I posted this on another thread, but I’m so happy I’ll post here too. We found out today that my son’s appeal worked. We had heard he was rejected in early January but the school appealed and it was overturned!

^^^

Wow!!! i remember reading your post about the rejection, and then the possible appeal! Super congrats!!!

What a relief! :)

Congrats qgroup! I’m glad everything worked out for you.

Congratulations qgroup for your successful appeal and to everyone else who is receiving good news. For those of us looking at full-rides this is so very important.

Aaarrrggh! Someone knocked over my mailbox yesterday! Who knows when we’ll find out at our house! (school NEVER bothers to tell them this type stuff…it’s old hat for the school)
