National Merit Finalist scholarship expectations

I am a National Merit semifinalist (application submitted; set to be finalist) from Minnesota.
My PSAT score is 219
My SAT score is 2210 (800/720/690)
What should I expect scholarship wise?

Schools of interest include University of Minnesota, University of Virginia, Northwestern, and Carnegie-Mellon.

Thanks for the help!

Well, you need to look at each school’s website and see if they award anything for NMF status. I don’t think any of those schools award much if anything.

Are you expecting/wanting some NMF scholarship money? If so, then apply to the schools that award such.

Will those schools be unaffordable if you don’t get award money? If so, then your list may need tweaking.

What is the 690 in?

CMU: nothing
Northwestern:$2,000/yr, but if you have financial need it probably won’t help you as typically those scholarships are counted against need. That is their only merit scholarship
UMN-Twin Cities: $10-12K/yr, With the extra $2K depending on financial need and a good chance of extra merit scholarships non-NMF that stack with the NMF award.
UVA: IDK

There is a subforum for NMF, and at the top you will find a compilation of large NMF scholarships.

If you get the student handbook for NMSC it lists all schools that award official NMF scholarships (generally $1-2k per year).

UVa does not sponsor NM scholarships.

BobWallace is the one who keeps this list organized and updated and we all love him.

The annual report online on NMSC site also lists the colleges that sponsor and how many awards they sponsored the previous year.

Here is a list of large scholarships for National Merit Finalists (and sometimes Semifinalists and other statuses):
