National Merit Finalists

is it a problem if i haven't received a finalist (or rejection) letter by now?

I'm sure you're fine...as some people said earlier, it all depends upon the postal dates/your school, etc.

You definitely should have heard by now. Rejection letters were mailed in January. Letters to finalists were mailed on Feb. 10th. You can check with your school to see if they have heard anything, but it might be easier to just call National Merit.

My son made thhe National Merit Finalist list. He has been accepted at University of Oklahoma (Honors College). The college is offering him $ 87000/4 years (and yes a free laptop upto $ 1500). I have been doing some research on my own and havve realyy had some mixed reviews. The program looks very good and opportunities/perks are as good as any other top tier colleges. We have not visited the school yet but the feedback on location is not a ringing endorsement. I have also been on other boards (College ******* etc.) to read up on student feed-back and most of it was very encouraging. I have posted on this board inquiring abbout the quality of education at OU Honors College and have not received any feed back. We are planning to visit the school sometime in April, after we hear from other schools. Overall my impression has been favorable and having an ex-Gov and ex-Senator as President of the school is impressive.

We had also looked at Arizona State University (ASU) but thought thhere was too much marketing hype in the packages they sent us and ruled it out after reading up on school as well as talking with an ASU grad. This is not to say that it is not a great program. It was just not right for us. Hope this helps.

I’d be doubtful about that, but I don’t know what his other choices are.

Accepted at UW-Madison, Northwestern, Wash U; waiting on Ivies. Anyway does undergrad really make that much of difference if the goal is post-graduate.

it can. uw-madison is the best bang for the buck, unless you get good aid from nu or washu. but a free ride is hard to let go.

is this class of 2009 ur talking about?

Yes 10char
