<p>Just the "What two colleges do you want" thing. Commended comes out the same time as Semi when they're released in late September of this year.</p>

<p>No... everybody got it. They probably (I'm not sure) dont even know the cutoff for Semi for each state yet. It just says that "you are in the top 50,000", which is Comm + Semi.</p>

<p>Mine hasn't come yet (230), but our guidance office isn't very prompt with these things. We didn't even get our PSAT scores until the middle of January!</p>
<p>My understanding is that Commendations are by the national scores, not state... </p>
<p>I got a 201 (96th, closer to 97th and to 95th :-P... very borderline) which is bad compared to a lot of people here, but was hoping to get Commended... </p>

<p>Trust me, this definitely happened, I was standing there when atleast 10+ people (some of whom definitely are only commended - like 200s) picked up their letter.</p>

<p>All I can say is, why do NMSC cutoffs vary by state? Because, 'good' though MA may be, my school isn't.</p>

<p>Semifinalist status is determined by the top 0.5% of every STATE, Commended is like the top 5% in the Nation (usually around 200 psat score)</p>
<p>So, if anyone with a score between like 195-205 has gotten a letter, please post what you got so people whose schools are slow can have some advanced warning as to whether or not they are gonna end up as just an Average Joe or not..lol</p>
