National Merit Money Question

Hey guys!

So I am a National Merit Finalist. I listed Carleton College, where I will be attending, as my first choice, and I got a letter basically saying "congrats, just sign this form and the money is yours". I signed the form and sent it in and all that, but...

Is there any way to check that it was received by the national merit people? I REALLY NEED THAT MONEY!

Thanks!

I doubt the national merit group has much to do with the money awarded by Carleton. That’s the school’s money they are giving to you.

By the way, congratulations! That’s a heck of an accomplishment.

National Merit does send a confirmation to you that states what school is your top choice (somewhere along in the process you wrote down your first choice college). Was it Carleton? Call Carleton and check.

If it is a NM scholarship from NM, be aware that the money will be transferred directly to the school and will take months to show up–think Oct in the fall.

And if it was from Carleton College then it will be used to offset some of the tuition you would normally pay so still no check to you.
