National Merit Notification?

Hi, on the NMSC website, as well as on the flyer that I received, it says that "NMSC mails notification to high school principals about the status of their Semifinalists; a "Certificate of Merit" is provided for each Semifinalist who qualifies as a Finalist" on FEBRUARY 1ST.

I am a Semifinalist, and have not received any notification about whether or not I did or did not advance to Finalist status.

I was wondering if any other Semifinalists have received notification about their status via their principals, and have been presented with this "Certificate of Merit."

I have not yet received my notification, either. The website only says "In February"--no specific date mentioned.

Schools get sent the stuff on Feb 1, students on Feb 8 (somebody at your school may already know and tell you). In any case, the people that didn't make it got notices in late Jan. So, if you got nothing then, no news is good news.

Looking at the board from last year, the earliest notification looks like it was on Feb. 5th, and they were sent on Feb. 2, so our schools should know within the next few days. The flyer does say that they were mailed to the schools on Feb. 1 (friday), so hopefully we'll know soon.

Some mom from another forum posted that her kid's high school notified her kid today that she's NMF. Anyday now!

Made it. Told at school this morning.

My D has not heard anything yet. My guess is her school will not tell her until after she is notified even if they know.

Well, this sucks--I won't be in school on the eighth. I don't want to wait over the weekend to find out!

Bug them until they tell you. They already know.

I have been waiting since February 1st for any notification from NMSC.
My school doesn't care, AT ALL, about scholarships...
Which is why I've tried to take matters into my own hands and ask the counseling office and main office if they have received any postal mail from NMSC.
However, they deny it.

I live in Southern California.
Is there any chance that the mail might not have come yet?
Or did the mail arrive, but the school failed to deliver the package to me?

**I'm overly concerned, because last year, my school discarded the NM Semifinalist's application packet...

Bump bump bump (:

You should get your own letter by Saturday at your home, but a call to national merit may help. Some people last year get info that way, others were told they couldn't give out info. Letters to home address are sent out on Thursday.

Notified yesterday.

got mine today.

my friend was notified yesterday

got mine today as well. I'm in south Florida, btw. (Maybe once you recieve notification you should give your general region so those who haven't gotten it yet can know if their region has?)

Still haven't heard, grr. My principal's been out, but my guidance counselor told him to be watching for it. (I'm Ohio, btw.)

got it today at school.Texas.

Have any of the folks who have been notified gotten any indication of whether or not you are getting any money?

That comes in the next few months, either corporate, from national merit itself, or a school that sponsers national merits officially.
