Hey! Son just got the preliminary "choose two schools for us to introduce you to" email. We've researched and picked two that seem to care about demonstrated interest, and do NM stuff. My question: the online reply wants one major and one career plan, and son has two main paths he's looking at. Is it better to pick one, or to use "Undecided"? Will choosing Undecided hurt him in any way? Both schools have strong majors and departments in
both fields (Physics and Psychology), but he doesn't want to be pegged as
one thing or the other while he's exploring them both.

Since this is preliminary, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I would think that the most important part came down to what you put on your application. If he puts down physics and psychology and then has an essay explaining his passion for them, I doubt they'd go back to the NM report and say, "Hey! This doesn't match. He's not a good fit" or somethign along that line.

Personally, I believe it's better to put down SOMETHING rather than undecided. To me that shows you've thought about it and you have career goals. But I'm no adcom so don't quote me ;-0
