National Merit PSAt Question

Well my PSAT was 74CR 74M 65W. My SAT just came back 680CR 710M 670W…

Did you do some practice tests before taking the SAT? Were you prepared for a 3.5 hr test? I recommend you do SAT practice tests over the summer , read a LOT, and take it again in the Fall. I recommend ordering the Collegeboard SAT book, instead of Barron’s or Princeton review , and try taking a practice test every 2 weeks.

I really don’t care about my SAT score except in the running for NMF… I live in an ACT area and my ACT totally trumps my SAT abilities. I’m just curious if what I got is enough for NMF, and if it is, I have no drive/reason to take the SAT again.

You are still pretty close to your PSAt score . I don’t think you need to retake it. Just my opinion though.

If I got 224 on the PSAT and 2200 is that close enough or do I need to try again for the SAT? I just got a 35 on the ACT, so I’m not sure I need to take the SAT again otherwise

mngirl, for the purposes of NMS, you are fine. 2200 is “confirmatory”. You will be a SF in MN (and probably any other state, too). If you fill out your paperwork and have good grades you will advance to Finalist easily. There’s a fair chance you’ll get money out of it, too (about 60% of the finalists get some money, most of these from the colleges to which they are admitted when that college sponsors a MM Finalist scholarship).

Congrats on the 35, BTW.
