National Merit Scholars

just wondering if anyone else got a letter today from National Merit Scholarship Corporation... I just found out that I'm a Scholar (the one with a $2500 single payment sponsored by the Corporation itself) and was wondering if anyone else has received a letter. it says that the press release won't be until May 4, and that it is up to the Scholars to decide whether they want to tell other people about their status before that time.

neilsshah can you give us an idea of your stats?

I got a $2500 letter today too. Pretty excited-it's my first scholarship. Anyway, p r stats link in my profile if you're interested in that.

hey justforgetme, congrats!!! and btw, FREAKIN awesome stats! where r u gonna go??

I got it too. Did yours have a deadline that you had to reply by though? I haven't seen the letter yet...my parents have it...but they said something about that. Also, did it list your "first choice school" in the letter...my parents said it mentioned something about that.

You have to accept the scholarship within the next week or so. They give you another letter if you want to change your first choice school (I didn't see a deadline on that, so I guess May 1stish is okay).

Got it yesterday.

Stats are in my PR_STATS page in my profile.

CONGRATS TO YOU!

I guess I'm going to have to settle for the $750 my school is giving me. Still better than nothing.

So, just out of curiosity, where are you all planning to matriculate in the fall....or are you still deciding? I'm still in the process of deciding, so I have to send in that other form by May I suppose.

darkofnight, i think that question will be easily answered after next week (hopefully)

Yeah, I just got mine today! I'm going to Yale.

luckystar congrats! So you've decided on Yale already? I got in EA, but am still waiting to hear from other schools....although at the moment it is still topping my list.

Got mine today!

Going to Harvard... My stats should be somewhere in Zuma's Roster thread on the Harvard board... My PSAT index was 226.

Congrats to all! You know, even Rhodes Scholars list NMS on their resumes. Hmmmmmm...

how do people know if they did not get one? Do they get a letter too, or will there be a list of scholarship recipients online somewhere?

modestmouse: really? So, this must be a big deal huh lol. So we are officially the "National Merit Scholars," right? Oh, and congrats on Harvard :)

yay just got mine today.

Heh, darkofnight. Yeah. I'm serious, google "Joseph S. Jewell" +"resume". He's a Rhodes Scholar-elect and he listed NMS. Thanks for the congrats, BTW!

texas137: I think the students who aren't selected get their rejection letters in May when the press releases for winners go out. I may be wrong...

Wow, that's true....I checked it out. That's nice....at least we have some honors we can carry through into college. Congrats again everyone!
