National Merit Scholarship...Have You Heard?

Just wondering if any of you seniors have heard back yet on the National Merit Scholarship. I think the letters were supposed to be sent out on the 3rd, according to my mother. I was also wondering if those of you that applied ever received any word that they had received your application? Normally I'm pretty laid back about this stuff but my mom has recently been freaking out a little bit, thinking she must have done something wrong when she put it in the mail and they didn't receive it, and anyway now she has me a little worried :) Any soothing words to calm my irrational anxiety?

My GC gave me the wink today, essentially telling me that I made it, which isn't that much of a surprise.

NMSC mails letters designating finalists to High Schools on Feb. 3; NMSC notifies finalists at home addresses on Feb. 8. Of the appx. 15K NMSF, about 15K are named finalists. Whether you actually get any money is a different matter.

That's 15K finalists out of 16K NMSF.

gatordan, did you ever receive any confirmation in the mail after you sent it in? i think i should have made it, but my principal would have told me if he had received it and so far he hasn't. till then i guess i'll just have to wait unpatiently.

no, but then again my guidance councellor did all that for me, I filled it out and wrote my essay and gave it to her to fill out her part, and she sent it in, I don't thikn that would have changed anything though, it was still my address and such on the app. I never recieved any sort of confirmation, so I wouldn't be too worried.

My GC wasn't told yet either, but she's very nervous and impatient so she took it on herself to call and confirm, so don't worry if you havn't heard yet.
