If I haven't gotten one by now, does that mean I'm out of the running for the $2500 scholarship? If I change my first-choice college to a sponsor college, do I automatically get their award as a Finalist (granted I've already been admitted, of course)?

Specifically, I'm talking about Arizona State--ASU gives $92,000 ($23k/year) for OOS applicants. I'm waiting on colleges that aren't on the NM list, so if I have no chance of getting the general $2500, should I just rename my first-choice college to ASU, and if I do, am I guaranteed the $92k if I attend?

The letters for the $2500 award directly from NM that can be used at any college were mailed the last week in March, so if you haven’t received a letter by now, it is pretty safe to assume you aren’t getting this. You should list a school that gives awards to National Merit Finalists on your form if you didn’t do this already…

I don’t know the specifics about Arizona. Since schools really vary in how they handle the college-sponsored awards you should check Arizona’s website or call their scholarship dept.
